Hooray for the movies!
Congratulations to Luna Palace theatres!
At last Perth moviegoers have something to watch on the big screen, and can enjoy the experience of going out of their homes for entertainment.
During the month of August on Sundays it will cost only $15, including free tea or coffee and biscuits, at Windsor Cinema Nedlands and Luna SX in Fremantle where you can see classic retro movies at 1.30 pm. Tomorrow (August 2) at 1.30pm for example, you can watch Deborah Kerr and Cary Grant sizzle in Leo McCarey’s romantic great, An Affair To Remember at both cinemas –though along with the free refreshments at Windsor, you’ll also be treated to a live organ performance half an hour before the film.
For the same price there are Monday double movies at Luna Leederville at 6.30 pm. Two movies, some retro and some recent for $15 – what’s not to like? Then there’s the Alliance Francaise French Festival which winds up August 4.
Luna has also several upcoming special events of note, including French romantic comedy La Belle Epoque screening on August 12, with $10 Kir Royales (Champagne mixed with Creme de Cassis) and live music played in the cinema by The Murphy Brothers.
Then on August 13, a must for Elvis fans: One Night Only, originally released 50 years ago, the documentary in which The King performs in concert in Las Vegas, is screened at Luna Leederville and Luna SX. That same date at the Windsor, you can see Liam Neeson star opposite his son, Micheal Richardson in movie Made In Italy, playing a father and son confronting their fractured relationship in a charming Italian village. The Windsor will also be offering “rousing accordion live tunes” from Cathie Travers at the event.
