Hi Starfish Readers,
We haven’t put out your favourite WA online mag lately as we were away for weeks: chomping gelato, gawking at sensuous statues, joining the piazza promenaders, and tucking into the world’s best pasta.

Yes, we were in Italy. We even got robbed in Rome, which apparently is par for the course, these days!

Oh – and we got engaged while cycling in Bellagio. Yes, after nine years of living together, we decided it was time to formalise the arrangement.

Pete got down on one rickety knee halfway up a mountain, looking down to Lake Como. How could I say nay?

Newly home, we couldn’t wait to get down to Cott for a few swims; congrats to the council for putting in the shark net. For the first time in years, it feels a bit safer being more than a few metres from shore!

Back on land, when not on the phone to Telstra, bemoaning the lousy NBN connection, we’ve been busy putting together a list of great summer reads (running in our next issue) providing some inspiration re what to put under the Chrissie tree next month. Speaking of which, on Wednesday, November 27  Moerlina Primary School is hosting a terrific market, with loads of affordable and creative gifts on hand. The market is at 16 Brockway Road, Mt Claremont and runs from 3pm – 6pm.

In this issue, we visit Hobart and Rome, introduce you to Freo artist Megan Anderson – who’s just published a book dog and art lovers alike are sure to relish – plus bring you the latest film reviews from Ros and Margot, plus a bewitching new summery dessert recipe from the enticingly titled new cookbook Fairytale Baking.

Enjoy!
Jacqui and Pete
