Luna Theatre is expanding its premises in Leederville.

The City of Vincent has approved a plan to convert a former fish and tackle shop next door to the Leederville Theatre, Oxford Street, into four new screening rooms with indoor and outdoor facilities.

This will provide greater flexibility to show more films, accommodate groups and extend the ability to show films for longer if there is a demand.

People who love movies will always go to a cinema rather than watching them at home on a small screen.

The experience of going out for the day or night with like-minded people and enjoying the big screen, perhaps with a glass of wine or an ice-cream, cannot be replicated elsewhere.

Luna Leederville, Luna SX at Fremantle and the Windsor at Nedlands are fully licenced and show quality first release films from around the globe.

They show festival winners, documentaries, films on the visual arts, live theatre and opera, plus the best local and indie films. There are also Q and A nights with filmmakers and actors.

The aim is to have the new theatres operational by next summer.
